Starting Taekwondo is exciting, but it can also feel a little unfamiliar at first. Students are learning new movements, new routines, new expectations, and sometimes new words. Many Taekwondo schools use Korean commands during class as a way to teach tradition, focus, respect, and discipline. For beginners, learning these basic commands can help students feel more confident and prepared when they step onto the mat. Whether your child is new to martial arts or you are an adult trying Taekwondo for the first time, understanding common Taekwondo commands can make class easier to follow and more enjoyable. At High Kick Taekwondo in Sayville, NY, students learn commands step by step as part of their training. No one is expected to know everything on day one. Like every part of martial arts, it gets easier with practice.
